I am a 27 year old female and have been STRUGGLING with episodic cluster headache syndrome for over 10 years. I regularly see a neurologist and have tried many medications, steroids, and injections and continue to find myself in the same miserable state every 6-9 months in my life. Most of you reading this are probably not familiar with cluster headaches. Let me clear one thing up right now, they are NOTHING like the typical migraine (http://www.ouch.com). For the surgeon, my question is, after years and years of such repetitive, unbearable pain and force to the same occipital/optical areas, could this be causing any damage over time? The attacks can last anywhere from 20 minutes - 3 hours. I can have up to 3-4 attacks in a day and my cycles can last up to 9 weeks at a time. Your help and advice is appreciated.
