I am a 27 year old female and have been STRUGGLING with episodic cluster headache syndrome for over 10 years. I regularly see a neurologist and have tried many medications, steroids, and injections and continue to find myself in the same miserable state every 6-9 months in my life. For the surgeon, my question is, after years and years of such repetitive, unbearable pain and force to the same occipital/optical areas, could this be causing any damage over time? The attacks can last anywhere from 20 minutes - 3 hours. I can have up to 3-4 attacks in a day and my cycles can last up to 9 weeks at a time. Your help and advice is appreciated.
